About Julie

Hi, my name is Julie Cannings. My first book was published in January 2021.

I’m a stay at home Aussie Mum with a loving husband and two very energetic young boys.

I’ve been fascinated with the paranormal from a young age. In primary school, I was a big fan of the Goosebumps series. In high school, Buffy the Vampire Slayer was my favourite TV show. Vampires and werewolves intrigued me in my teens and I never let go of that fascination.

“The Promised One” is the first novel I wrote. It was originally planned as a one-off book, but when I finished it I felt sad. I had finished the story. The job was done. That’s when characters for another story popped into my head. I knew I didn’t want to stop at one story, I had to write more.

The rest of my books have a different thread to my first. The first focuses more on action than romance. It also has a strong Christian theme. 

My stories now focus more on romance and are secular. All the stories have a paranormal theme. Be warned, my romances are a bit saucy.

By putting pen to paper, I am fulfilling my childhood dream; writing books has opened a whole new world for me. New characters and ideas pop into my head before I finish one story. 

I write a little bit about them and put that aside in my box of “will be published eventually” stories. Their characters and plot outlines are in my mind, itching to be written; eventually, their time will come.
